Transition is a natural part of life. Whether a young couple welcomes their first bundle of joy home (or in our case, a relatively older couple welcomes their third bundle of joy) or experienced parents say farewell as their first moves out of the house, transitions are attended by both joy and pain.
We are a group of English students at Oskayak High School who will be hosting a round dance in honour of Missing & Murdered Aboriginal Women across Canada and their families. We have chosen the name poko ka mamitonemayahkik iskwewak ka pe misowanacihihcik ekwa ka nakatacik owahkômakanowawa, which means honoring the memory of Missing and Murdered Women and the families left behind.
