John Jenkins grew up in Victoria and became involved with boats and commerical marine operations at an early age. He started working for Hill Marine and then went on to become a journeyman boat builder.In 1964 John incorporated his own business, Jenkins Marine. Using a shop on a hilltop in View Royal he began manufacturing Thunderbird sailboats. The company has expanded over the years into one of the largest and most stable marine repair companies in Victoria.

Helijet is proud to have been a part of the growth of British Columbia for the past two decades. In November 1986, armed with a vision, one helicopter and handful of dedicated employees, Helijet began commuter service between downtown Vancouver and downtown Victoria. The first scheduled helicopter service in Canada! The Victoria Harbour Ferry Company was founded in 1990 with just two ferry boats. Today we own and operate a fleet of 14 small passenger ferries that sail the waters around Victoria, B.C.'s Inner Harbour and the neighboring Selkirk and Gorge Waterways. All but one of our ferry boats were built on Vancouver Island, all can travel at speeds of up to 7 knots (12.5 kilometers per hour or 8 miles per hour) and can carry up to 12 passengers plus the Skipper. Several of our little ferry boats have traveled a distance the equivalent of one and half times around the equator without ever having left our harbour. Over the years we have carried over 1.5 million passengers and have become Victoria's Number One Tourist Attraction. In addition to our fleet of 'pickle boats' we operate a 40 passenger Tour and Charter vessel used for larger groups and events on our harbour waters.
