Established in 1959, Canada's National Ballet School is a world leader in the training of professional dancers and teachers. NBS graduates can be found as dancers, choreographers, artistic directors, teachers and administrators in over 65 dance companies worldwide, and in even more schools around the globe.
OUR MANDATE is to make dance available to all who wish to pursue it: this is the guiding principle which breathes through the school. Our programs are tailored to all ages and all levels: from the very young to the pre-professional and mature student. They are encouraged to be intelligent and honest about their dance art.Dance as a performing art is recognized at the end of year: Let's Dance Festival in June is a week-long celebration of dance and the culmination of a year of learning. Any dancer who is committed and fulfills the requirements, can take advantage of extra performance opportunities by auditioning for our annual production of NUTCRACKER, performed in December.Our students learn that dance is a communication tool and this knowledge gives them a sense of excitement about dance as creative expression. Many of our students have pursued their education in dance and choreography at professional schools and universities. Some of them have become professional artists in their own right. All have acquired a true appreciation and love for dance.
