Welcome to the John Howard Society ofKingston & DistrictThe John Howard Society of Kingston & District is a non-profit organization committed to providing and developing a wide range of community based services that address crime and its causes. We are dedicated to supporting the rehabilitation and re-integration efforts of those who have been in conflict with the law. Our organization has a strong history of helping people through the provision of prevention and intervention services, as well as advocacy and public education. We strive to offer programs that are evidence-based and responsive to our community needs thereby contributing to the development of a safe and healthy community for all.
WelcomeThe St. Lawrence Youth Association is a non-profit charitable organization, funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. Established 1974 in Kingston, Ontario. SLYA operates two residential programs (Achievement St. Lawrence and Sundance) including medical services, Girls Moving On and Reintegration Worker Programs; two community-based programs (Community Support Services and Intensive Support & Supervision Program), and a Bailiff Program.The Association deals with young persons in conflict with the law and young persons who are charged with an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada who are between the ages of twelve and seventeen when they commit the offence.SLYA is operated by a volunteer Board of Directors with an Executive Director to run the day to day operations of the Association as the senior executive officer. SLYA is incorporated under the Corporations Act, there is a constitution and by-laws, as well as officers of the Board of Directors.The Board of Directors includes a committee structure.
To serve our members and the community and to promote the honour, interests and dignity of the legal profession in Frontenac County by; representing and advocating on behalf of its members; supporting and organizing legal education and promoting professional development, ethics, and civility in the practice of law; providing specialized library services to its members; encouraging the highest professional standards, and fostering collegiality among its members; promoting and improving access to legal services for residents of Frontenac County; Advancing the fair and effective administration of justice including communication and cooperation among the Bench, the Law Society, and the community.
