Re/Max Ocean Pacific Realty opened its doors for business January 13, 1987. It was formed by four top producing sales associates who wanted to provide a real estate environment that would allow sales associates to be the best they could be. The connection with Re/Max was a natural fit for the type of working environment that was envisioned. Jim Gordon, Dave Procter, Bill Morrison and Glenn Procter were the original founders of Re/Max Ocean Pacific Realty. The office supports the Children's Miracle Network as its official charity. Every year during the spring, the sales associates donate a part of each commission to CMN which goes directly to Children's Hospital support for our area. We also have the Re/Max Christmas fill a dream program. This program provides support for worthy members of the community that need a helping hand and seem to fall through the cracks of most of the other programs. After 3 successful years located right in the Lund Hotel building, we have as of July 1st, 2005 moved our office and storefront to the top floor of the beautiful new Harbour's Edge building, which is home to the well known Nancy's Bakery. This move allows us to focus more heavily on our marine environmental education through our tours and programs. We will be working to have proceeds from our tours going to the Georgia Strait Alliance, an organization that exists to raise awareness about and effect change in pollution of the Strait. The founding members of the society are Barbara Mitchell, Comox Band, Lorna Quatel, Campbell River Band, Audrey Wilson, Cape Mudge, Pauline (McCrimmon) Janyst, Da'naxda'xw First Nation.In 1991 these First Nations women came together as a result of their concerns regarding the prevalence of family violence in their communities. Pauline did volunteer work at the Campbell River Family Services in the victim services area; she often had women of ethnic backgrounds along with the First Nations women referred to her. She took this concern to the three First Nations band social development workers and asked if there was something they could do. They first organized a support group that Pauline facilitated with her training as a victim service worker. From then she began seeking funding sources to implement a program.

The Sliammon First Nation (Kla ah men) are a part of the Coast Salish peoples inhabiting the Western Coast of Canada. The Sliammon community is located just North of Powell River, British Columbia.
