Thank goodness some people with foresight and vision saw the opportunity that presented itself when the Shaughnessy Golf course closed in the 60s. Saving a good chunk of the land from developers, the Vancouver Foundation, the Province and the City of Vancouver worked to establish this gem on part of the land once occupied by the golf course. The results are now here for all to see with charming little paths winding among the impressive variety of plants, shrubs, bushes and trees that are all carefully labeled throughout the grounds. There's even a fun and challenging hedge maze! The restaurant is a lovely place to go for a meal and the gardens seem an ideal spot to hold a wedding with great places for photo ops throughout the gardens. And Van Dusen continues to improve with a new visitor centre being built for 2011. The other thing that must be mentioned as a must see is the light show they put on every Christmas. Huge swaths of the gardens are lit up with thousands if not millions of lights. This is all complemented by a musically choreographed light show that happens regularly on the main pond. WIth snack booths offering hot chocolate and other goodies it is a great way to indulge in Christmas Spirit. Visit Van Dusen Gardens and enjoy a little tranquility in the middle of the city!

I thought that the staff was great, the food was delicious, the wait was not long at all, and the atmosphere was really fun! They had a great menu (much of their ingredients were either local or home-made) and their patio seats have one of the best views of the beach I've ever seen. The place itself was very clean and cozy. I would definitely give it 5 stars out of 5 and I will definitely be returning to try out other menu options. Really easy to find as it is just across from the pier. One of the highlights of my trip to the beach and a must try for anybody looking for an awesome place to eat in White Rock. :)

This is my favourite restaurant. period. I don't get the chance to travel to Vancouver much but we've debated flying in just for dinner at Ouisi. There isn't a thing on the menu you should not order. Great portion sizes, great flavours - I crave them while back home in Ontario.

remains the most reliable bet for an evening of fine dining on the White Rock waterfront. I've come here for 12 years and was sad to see other excellent restaurants fold - Giraffe's enduring quality and style are beloved by locals. The warm, funky, elegant interior and stunning view are worth the visit. The service strikes a perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness.Highly recommended.

The Russian Community Centre, located in the heart of Kitsilano (the former Kitsilano Cinema), was established in 1956 in order to provide a venue for people interested in Russian culture to gather and socialize at various events.Part of the mandate of the RCC is to promote and support Russian cultural activities. It has been the home of the Russian Balalaika Orchestra for 40 years, the Yablochko Russian Dance Ensemble for 19 years, the RCC Pushkin Saturday Children's Language School for 38 years, and most recent the Palme Theatre Group.In 2006, the Russian Community Centre celebrated its 50th anniversary. We are grateful to those who, 50 years ago, had the vision, courage and determination to start this wonderful organization, as well as to all those who have participated and supported in the life to the RCC over the years.
