The Mount Pleasant Group is one of Ontario's oldest, largest and most innovative cemetery and funeral operations. We also have four crematoriums, 14 mausoleums and five visitation centres where we also provide funeral services. In addition, we offer funeral services through The Simple Alternative Funeral Centres in Toronto, Mississauga and Pickering. Today, we are made up of two companies: the Mount Pleasant Group of Cemeteries which provides cemetery and crematorium services; and Canadian Memorial Services which provides funeral services. In Ontario, 95% of all cemetery companies are either non-profits, or are owned by religious organizations or municipalities.
Burial in a Catholic cemetery is an affirmation of the Christian faith. The Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese, operated on behalf of all parishes, exercise a ministry of service that continues uninterrupted since 1855. We are guided by the Catholic Church, the Archdiocese of Toronto and the needs of those we serve. Catholic Cemeteries offer a comforting atmosphere in which our Catholic Faith is celebrated and love for family and friends is remembered. A selection of burial services is available including ground burial, mausoleum crypt entombment, cremation as well as monuments and markers. Cemetery office hours are from Monday to Saturday - 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. To serve you better a cemetery counsellor can be available weekday evenings by request and subject to availability. York Cemetery And Visitation Centre is part of the Mount Pleasant Group Funeral Centres and Cemeteries, serving North York and neighbours since 1948. Our members speak a multitude of languages to accommodate the diversity of our community and our services include interment choices for ground burial or cremation, as well as a Veterans' section and a Garden of Remembrance. Our visitation centre includes a chapel and reception location.
