Cemetery founders included Dr. Beatty, Thomas Dumble, George Stephens, A. Fraser, J. Sutherland, J.C. Field, Thomas Gillbard and A.S. Kennedy. The undertaking was promoted and financed largely by public subscription and sale of lots.Mr. Thomas Dumble, Jr.
Robert Louis Stevenson''The risk of love is loss, and the price of loss is grief. But the pain of grief is only a shadow when compared with the pain of never risking love.''- Hilary Stanton Zunin''My friendship with Mitzi was like the friendship that many children have with their pets. The foundation of Natures Way Cemetery was built on a tragedy. On September 1, 1995, I married my husband in a small ceremony on our 10 acre property. Collectively we had three dogs at the time of our marriage. The smallest and oldest was a city-raised miniature long haired daschund named Felix. Two days following the happy nuptials the best man prepared to return to his in Belleville, Ontario. With goodbyes said, my sister and I proceeded to walk the distance to the house with the dogs in tow. Unbeknownst to us, my beloved Felix was resting under the best mans truck, which was now in reverse gear. The rest, as they say, is history. My best friend and faithful companion of eight years had been taken abruptly from me.
