Our Lady of Hope Parish is a Catholic Community that was established in 1967 in southeast Baltimore County. We were called to form one community after nineteen years' presence as the independent parishes of St. Mildred and St. Adrian. We seek to live the Gospel values of Jesus Christ as individuals and as a community through involvement in worship, in learning and in outreach to the total community. We hold dearly ministries of evangelization and education along with supportive ministries to our children, youth, and adults, acknowledging the diversity in family lifestyles yet proclaiming family values. Recognizing the traditions of the past and the opportunities for the future, we as a community of faith, hope and love, encourage all to share in our mission.4th Sunday of Advent (December 21 / December 22)Reading 1
When unable to receive Holy Communion, one can make a Spiritual Communion. This is an act expressing what was described by St. Thomas Aquinas as an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament and in lovingly embracing Him.
What We BelieveDouglas Mennonite Church is a mid-sized congregation (about 300 people on Sunday morning) in northeast Winnipeg. Since its founding, children and youth have been a very important part of the congregation. In our early days, our focus was mainly on the children and youth who were already part of the congregation but in more recent years, our vision has expanded to include those children and youth in our neighbourhood who do not yet know Christ .A number of years ago we as a congregation adopted the following vision statement. We said that we believed that God was calling us:To love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strengthTo invite large numbers of children and youth to faith in Jesus Christ and to train them for the work which God has given themTo become a congregation which does not primarily look inward, but also looks outward in order to serve its neighbours and invite them to faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to participation in Christ's church. There are a number of relationships which are very important to Douglas Mennonite Church
Parish Mission StatementWe are a diverse, spirit-led Roman Catholic community in the Archdiocese of Saint Boniface. We welcome all to listen to the Word, to pray, and to know, love and serve the Lord. Our faith is centered on our regular celebration of the Eucharist. As a family of God we seek to deepen our personal relationship with Jesus Christ and grow as a faith community in a spirit of evangelization by engaging our members in works of ministry founded on prayer, faith formation, hospitality, social justice principles and acts of service.Through spiritual, physical and financial resources, we are committed to promoting a strong and stable ''family life'' within our parish; as well as empowering, inspiring and mentoring our youth to become strong Christian adults who will witness and carry on the work of Jesus Christ in the church and in the world.Submitted by the Parish Pastoral Council after deliberation and prayer.
