HomeWelcome to the Community of Matheson IslandIts location at this strategic point on the lake has given the island and its people a rich history for over 100 years. Lake Winnipeg has played a vital role in shaping the island community of Matheson Island right from the beginning of time, and it continues to do so even until the present.We are located at the end of Provincial Road #234, which connects with Provincial Highway #8. The community is connected with the mainland by the Ingemar Carlson II Cable Ferry, or in the winter months by a winter road. It's only a short ferry ride across, or a 1.6 km winter road. The Cable Ferry runs daily (7am-11pm), weather permitting.Our school presently has 18 students enrolled from Nursery-Grade 8 at this time in our two multi-graded classrooms.We welcome you to our website, and invite you to learn more:
