I am Marnie Palmer-Lang, owner/director of Dance Elite Studio for the Arts.
I was 3 years old when I started dancing. I remember loving the studio as soon as I arrived. I immediately enjoyed the music and the friendliness of the teachers. In fact, I stayed there until
I graduated high school! There was something about that studio. It was my home from home. The teachers became my family and I had strong friendships with my dance friends. My confidence grew as I was offered opportunities to push myself further while
having fun at the same time. Having teachers who believed in me at a young age helped me pursue my dreams.
I am writing this note to express all my gratitude to my extended family at Strictly Dance. I started with Julia in 2007 taking Adult Ballet as a distraction I guess from the loss of my husband, not realizing it was going to have such a profound effect on the rest of my life. Since then being a part of this dance family I have found the nicest warmest and caring people ever. Regardless of age the show of support through my cancer this past year from this school was amplified for me at the Recital this year when a group of girls performed a dance in my honour (uh oh you have made me cry happy tears again!). There is nothing that touched me as much, well except finding a crazy group on my front lawn this past Christmas season singing me Christmas Carols and sharing in the spirit of the season with my husband and I. Then I was given a collection taken up for me to buy a wig to wear from having chemo and was astounded at the care and generosity of strangers and then I thought they are not strangers but in fact members of my dance family.
