Midwife is a registered health care professional who provides complete care to women having healthy, normal pregnancies throughout their pregnancy, labour and birth. Midwives also provide care to both mother and baby during the first six weeks following birth. Most midwives work together in group practices. A woman is seen by two or three midwives. During regularly scheduled visits to the midwifery practice, midwives provide clinical examinations, counseling and education.

The Judy Dan Research & Treatment Centre is using and evaluating laser doppler and transcutaneous oximetry which are leading edge technologies. Laser doppler evaluates the condition of the smallest blood vessels (capillaries) surrounding a wound and can also determine the status of nearby larger arteries.
