I've spent the last 4 months in Vancouver, and Juju is by far the best place I've gone to get my haircut. They're always friendly and welcoming, very easy going, and have delivered excellent customer service. Steve is the one I've gone to for my haircuts, and since the first time I've called to make an appointment he's either stayed beyond his shift to accommodate me or found a way to squeeze me into his schedule. Highly recommend!!

Steve opened juju Salon and Spa in July 2008 with the aim of offering clients an experience that is unique and environmentally ethical in Vancouver. Most people wouldn't think where they choose to have their hair cut could have a positive environmental impact, but at juju it does. It is the first carbon-neutral salon in Vancouver, also taking the extra step of using locally made, environmentally friendly products, as well as recycling its materials whenever possible.We assessed our carbon footprint in terms of staff travelling to and from work, and the impact a salon has on the environment. Then, with the consultation of a few companies, we bought 100 tons of carbon offsets from Offsetters.ca to fund solar-energy projects in the Lower Mainland. What inspired me to take this step was to challenge other businesses to look beyond recycling, which Vancouver does a great job. I think carbon neutral is very avant-garde.Being from Whistler and still owing a salon there, I still place a little bit of that mountain magic in the salon, where everyone says hi to each other all the time and they are your friends. We go above and beyond to make customers happy, because there are only a few occupations where you can make people feel good about themselves.

Women's Hospital to pilot an innovative, collaborative, multidisciplinary program. Family physicians, midwives, community health nurses, and doulas all provide care in a community-based, culturally-appropriate, and woman-centered manner during pregnancy, birth and the newborn period. The SCBP is designed to improve the health outcomes of pregnant women in the underserved community of South Vancouver. This is the first such multidisciplinary program of its kind in Canada.Since 2003 the SCBP has cared for more than 2000 women, many of whom are new immigrants to Canada
