UFCW Local 832 was founded in 1938, and it had grown to about 700 members by 1964 when Bernard Christophe was elected president. By the time he stepped down as president in September 2002, the membership of the Local had grown to over 15,000. Today the membership sits at over 20,000 and continues to grow under the leadership of the current president, Jeff Traeger.

Cardinal Signs Ltd. is a full service sign company located in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. We have been serving Brandon and area, as well as out of province, for over 40 years. Designing to production, decals to vehicle graphics, as well as many type of sign installation services. Cardinal Signs Ltd. began in 1970 at 940 Princess Ave., in Brandon, Manitoba. After 3½ Years at that location, we purchased a building at 658 - 10th St. on October 1st, 1974. As we expanded our manufacturing ability, we added 1,080 Sq. feet to the north side of our building in the summer of 1978. We were the first shop in Western Canada to move in to the computerized sign manufacturing with a Gerber sign maker, this was around 1979. We soon outgrew that location and on November 1, 1986, we purchased our present location which is 10,000 square feet of building on 3½ acres of land. There were many growing pains over these years.

The museum, archives and library are located on the first floor, north end, Brandon Armoury, Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. It has been open to the public since 1979 and it has had visitors and e-mail correspondence from all provinces, most of the states and many countries. Comments from people who have visited the museum indicate they have found the museum very informative and the time well spent. The museum is run totally by volunteers. There is a work force of nine, who work one day a week through the winter. The museum is dedicated to preserving the memory of those who served their country in the various wars and engagements in which Canadian troops participated -- especially units that are associated with the southwestern corner of the province.There is a wide range of military memorabilia, including uniforms, webbing, bayonets, cap badges, shoulder flashes, flags, maps and swords. The museum library contains material which covers practically every war, battle or skirmish in which Canadian troops were involved.
