Sauble Beach, Ontario, Canada is a resort community and unincorporated area in the town of South Bruce Peninsula, Bruce County in southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is on the eastern shore of Lake Huron, on the north edge of the Saugeen Nation. The beach takes its name from that given by early French explorers to the sandy Sauble River, originally Riviere aux Saubles, that empties into the lake at the beach. The first settler is reported to have been John Eldridge, who built a cottage nearby in 1877, although most of the resort development of the modern beach area dates from about 1948, including still-surviving attractions like the Driftwood Cafe, Sauble Lodge Motel and the Crowd Inn hot-dog stand. The main street has remained relatively untouched in the past 50 years.

This is a quaint little inn hidden in the woods besides a rushing Ontario river. Gourmet food and excellent service. True sense of history is evident in the little touches like former mill machinery used as furnishings and decorations througout.
Probably some of the best food I have ever eaten.Read more

We purchased a package deal from Travelzoo for one night accomodation including dinner for two then breakfast for two. Meals and service in the dining room were wonderful although the beef tenderloin which we ordered for dinner was a bit dry and not all that appealing to the eye-just appeared like a thick hunk of meat on a plate. We were in room 303, bed linens definitely need improvement as do pillows which were so soft and mushy as to be non existent. Not Ontario's finest Inns quality.Read more

Having spent many forgettable hours in the old Pacific when it was a straight bar with a pool table, I was intrigued to see what the new owners had done especially as being from Jamaica, they have introduced some staples from The Islands into their menu. Pool table long gone and nicely laid out tables with linen napkins (!!), fresh dark paint greeted us. Orville, the owner's son welcomed us and his evident enthusiasm for the jerk chicken roti convinced my friend (who generally is a very fussy and unadventurous eater) and I to try that. It comes with choice of salad or soup of the day which on this Saturday night was curried pea (chick peas). The soup was excellent: thick, creamy, flavourful with just enough curry to satisfy and not spicy hot at all but warming as soup should be. Jodi took over and brought our roti which was full of flavour, once again mild in heat but you can have (as I did) a side bowl with some wickedy hot Jamaican sauce. The shredded chicken/potato combination was wrapped in a phyllo pastry adding richness to the warm mouthfeel of the dish. It and the soup was a really full meal. After-dinner coffee was very, very strong. Extremely friendly service and the tasty entrees make this a delightful addition in a veritable wasteland for well-prepared, good food. I'll be interested to try their take on some of the many regular menu items (steaks, pork, burgers, etc., etc.).Read more
