And out of that mission and my medical practice has grown a philosophy of medicine that I call the Health Coach philosophy, in particular a philosophy about the proper relationship between a doctor and patient. East End Community Health Centre provides primary care, health promotion and disease prevention services to the south-eastern quadrant of central Toronto, Ontario, Canada. A unique aspect of our mandate is to reach out to people in our community who may have difficulty accessing health care due to factors such as language, culture, poverty, or the lack of health insurance. We focus on the whole person in our approach and recognize that factors such as income, education, relationships and housing play a role in physical and mental health.
