AUT was established in 1976 in Tracy, Quebec, as Atelier d'Usinage Tracy. Founder Angel Vazquez, who still serves as president, immigrated from Spain to Canada in 1967. He spent several years as a machinist for various companies in the Sorel-Tracy area. While major industries like shipbuilding, paper mills, metallurgy, and chemical operations were thriving in the region at the time, subcontracting support was in scarce supply. Recognizing an opportunity, Angel Vazquez launches Atelier d'Usinage Tracy.
