We are Canada's principal maritime museum on the Pacific, located in the heart of Canada's greatest ports at the gateway to the Pacific Rim. For 45 years, we have been Pacific Canada's premier link to maritime history, art, culture, industry and technology. We do our job best when visitors of all ages have fun while learning. We believe in families. We believe that anyone and everyone can continue to learn throughout their life. And we believe in making stories come alive through using artifacts - the real thing not, make-believe set. We are a favourite with children and with their parents and grandparents. We are a popular destination for both local and residents and tourists. Each year, more than 100,000 people visit the Vancouver Maritime Museum. Most of our visitors are families from the Lower mainland. During the months of May to October, the Maritime Museum is a popular destination for tourists curious about the maritime history of Canada. In addition, thousands of students participate in guided education programs and we are a popular destination for community groups.
The Bill Reid Gallery is an ideal choice for corporate receptions, media and cultural events and private dinners. Choose your caterer, beverages and other suppliers. Enhance the mood with music, dance performances or a guided tour for a dramatic cultural experience.
British Columbia's Golf History The British Columbia Golf House is a registered non-profit, created in 1987 with the express purpose of preserving, recording and displaying the history of golf and the golfers of the province. The Society is able to issue tax receipts for donations, both financial and for golf items of historical significance. It is membership based and looks to golfers in British Columbia for support through memberships and donations.
The museum's other unique heritage items include Vancouver's first city council table, legendary lifeguard Joe Fortes' oil lamp and an original full-size Hansom cab. There's also a fine collection of First Nations basketry and carvings along with an eclectic assortment of fascinating curios donated by Vancouverites over the years. Step into Vancouver's past at the Old Hastings Mill Store Museum.
At FlyOver Canada you will spend approximately 30 minutes getting introduced to our great country. You will first enter the preshow area where you will be immersed in an audio-visual show of Canada 'up close and personal' before heading to the boarding zone for your preflight briefing.
The Museum offers a unique experience for visitors: unlike many heritage houses, the rooms are not roped off or behind glass, and some of the artefacts may be handled with care. Each of the eleven rooms has been furnished with artefacts and period items, which were collected over the years, some returned by the Roedde family. Experienced docents will be happy to share their knowledge and stories with you.
