Central Conservatory of Music is located in Lagoon City Brechin. We strive to keep music alive in this community through education, commitment and participation. We promote music education as an asset to our lives and future. We have been in the business for 45 years and our owner, Barry, is three time past president of the American Guild of Music, and a lifetime honour member. Music has many positive effects for emotional and intellectual growth, and it provides a sense of pride and accomplishment. In addition, music education contributes to self-confidence, problem solving skills, memory and concentration, goal setting and holistic healing, among many other things. Taking music lessons is associated positively with intelligence and with academic abilities while providing an outlet for emotional and mental health. Please come and join us to help share the power of music in our community!
My name is Olaf, I am a professional musician/teacher that majored in performance and composition in University. I had the opportunity to perform at well known music festivals where we opened for artists like Tom Cochrane, Great Big Sea, Hey Rosetta, Gandharvas, Holly McNarland and The Pursuit of Happiness.
I started teaching in 2002 students of all ages, as early as 4 years to 65+ old. The goal is to provide a flexible and patient yet passionate environment, where students are gently challenged in order to develop well rounded musical and instrumental skills.
The electronic studio is equipped with a pro Yamaha electronic drum-set, electric piano which means it can be synchronized to a laptop or handheld device for the purpose of playing along to songs, empty tracks or a metronome. In this way the student has access to their music via cd/mp3/usb/internet.
The mission of the Musicians' Association of Ottawa-Gatineau, Local 180, AFM is to defend and promote the economic, social, and professional interests of its members who are free-lance musicians, as well as musicians who are working under a collective bargaining agreement. The most important tool for defending the interests of our members is the written contract. A contract provides the musician with a document that refers to basic minimum fees set by the Musicians Association as well as minimum working conditions. Often included in these conditions is the engager's obligation to contribute to the musicians' pension fund.In addition to establishing working conditions, the Local also promotes the interests of its members by providing access to legal services and insurance plans. In exchange for these services, the members pay an annual fee and work dues. All contributions to the musician's pension plan are paid by the engager.
