I moved from Unionville to Newmarket two years ago. I still make a monthly pilgrimage to Mr Fish and Chips because I haven't found anything remotely comparable from here to Vaughan. The fish batter is light and flaky. Their chips are good, but the potato fritters (my personal favourite) are lip-smacking goodness.
The eat-in area is pretty basic. Definitely NOT somewhere to go on a first date. Come for the food, not the ambiance.

This is the Best fish and chip shop outside of England. My cousins and I always go there for dinner after a visiting the relatives at St Johns Cemetery. The service is excellent and they are always ready to answer questions about their history. Highly recomend.

Had fish and chips at Captain George's yesterday for Good Friday and have to say it was outstanding fish was really good and not greasy and portions were huge my one plate feed two!!!
