Elsipogtog Health and Wellness Centre is pleased and excited to present this year's Annual Report to our Community.During the past year we continued to expand the Health and Wellness Centre's programs and services. There were many highlights, and statistics through the year.I would like to express my great appreciation for the continued professionalism, teamwork, and commitment of our staff members, especially through the Accreditation process. In February 2013 EHWC received the Accreditation Primer Award through Accreditation Canada.I would also like to thank our community members and our elected leaders, Chief and Council, for your ongoing support. It is especially exciting for us to see the renewed interest that has been shown by Chief and Council in the health and well-being of our community.
When substance abuse or a damaging behaviour occupies a central place in a person’s life, that person is addicted. Addicts spend most of their time, energy, and money on their addiction. Alcohol, tobacco, medications, or drug use is regular, predictable, and usually frequent.
Addicts no longer have control over their substance abuse or damaging behaviour. They engage in it even if it causes family, financial, legal, or other problems.
