The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit works with the community to promote, protect, and improve public health and well-being. The geographical region served includes the City of Windsor, the Town of Essex, the Town of Leamington, the Town of Kingsville, the Town of Lakeshore, the Town of Tecumseh, the Town of LaSalle, the Town of Amherstburg, and Pelee Island. Governed by a Board of Directors, our services include vaccinations, immunizations, classes, clinics, water quality testing, health hazard and animal bite investigations, infection and outbreak control, and family home visits for new moms. The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit increases public awareness about the importance of prenatal and postnatal health, dental health, food safety, healthy eating, physical activity, injury prevention, tobacco use prevention, positive parenting, substance use and misuse, sun and heat safety, and safe sexual health, and other public health topics in workplaces, schools, and the community.
