In our family's case we have recorded sounds from the early 1900's to the present. There are a number of Fats Waller recordings on 78 rpm records in the family library and as a child growing up I was exposed the music of my father's youth which came from the 1930's and beyond. Names like Rudy Valley, Fats Waller are familiar to me because I listened to their music as a youth.

The Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC) and its research partners have received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) to conduct a three year research project, Knowledge Transfer in Urban Aboriginal Communities. The OFIFC will work with Indigenous scholars from three Ontario universities and several Friendship Centres to examine how a large Aboriginal institution acquires roles and responsibilities as an intra-community knowledge mover, creating necessary conditions for sustained socio-cultural memory and rejuvenating Indigenous identity.
