SHERK LUMBER TIMBER MART, located in Port Colborne Ontario, was established in 1810! Can you imagine a business being in the same family for 200 years....now that's longevity. The business was established as a sawmill and lumber business by David Sherk in 1810 and passed on to family members over the following decades with expansion from a mill into thriving retail lumber business. The Sherk family is part of Port Colborne's history and has diversified into several branches and types of mills including saw, cider, threshing, copping and grist, as well as coal and lumber. Ron Sherk, born in 1931, started at the age of 17 in the coal and lumber side of the enterprise. The lumber yard had rail access and would receive shipments from western Canada and at one time even shipped prefab homes and cottages all over Ontario. Ron is still at the helm of this busy enterprise as well as his son, Guy Sherk. With many generations to follow, the Sherk TIMBER MART remains a well established business.
