The Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA) exists to serve the public interest through the regulation of professional speech-language pathologists and audiologists in Alberta. ACSLPA’s regulatory work includes setting admission standards, considering applications for regulated membership and issuing practice permits, creating and enforcing a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, investigating complaints of unprofessional conduct, creating guidelines and practice documents, enforcing continuing competence standards, and more. ACSLPA was created by the Legislature through the Health Professions Act in 2002. The College’s mandate and authority to regulate both flow from this legislation.

Judy Steiert created Elderquest Options to encompass the variety of workshops which evolved from her training as a Certified Sage-ing® Leader (CSL) with Sage-ing® International www.sage-ing.org in 2003-2004. Her original course The Inner Work of the Sage included the basic eight modules: Images of Aging, Sage-ing® as a Spiritual Journey, Life Review, Life Repair/Forgiveness, Embracing Mortality, Legacy, Mentoring, and Sages in Service as outlined in the book From Age-ing to Sage-ing® (1995) by Zalmon Schachter Shalomi. Write to Witness Your Life provided an outline for Life Review, one of the modules. Elder Wisdom in Movies allowed us to view and discuss images of older actors in roles related to Aging with Purpose, Grace and Ease. An interview on the Shift Network during the Transforming Aging Summit in 2015 launched a greater awareness of elder actors and relevant topics related to aging.
