When I needed someone to do the finishing touches (aluminum capping) on my newly installed front door that replaced a very old, odd-sized door, I was told that I had "irreparable" issues in regard to the installation of the door. The business was established as a sawmill and lumber business by David Sherk in 1810 and passed on to family members over the following decades with expansion from a mill into thriving retail lumber business. The Sherk family is part of Port Colborne's history and has diversified into several branches and types of mills including saw, cider, threshing, copping and grist, as well as coal and lumber. Ron Sherk, born in 1931, started at the age of 17 in the coal and lumber side of the enterprise.
