n January 1999, Clarke and Nancy Gourlay with their 3 boys returned from Switzerland where they had been living for several years. Inspired by the magnificent Swiss cheeses, they set out to learn and practice the ancient and noble art of cheese making. The cool moist climate in the shadow of Vancouver Island's Mt. Arrowsmith proved to be ideal for the ripening of washed-rind cheeses, and Little Qualicum Cheeseworks found a home. We began milking cows and making cheese in 2001. Three years later we moved to beautiful Morningstar Farm and have opened our farm and animals to the public.

Our wines are from all around the world but our heritage is pure Vancouver family-owned and community-minded. We were one of the first private wine stores in B.C. when we started with a limited inventory in a modest space back in 1986, and we're proud to say we've grown up in the neighborhood.

Lulu Island Winery is the newest and largest winery in Richmond. It produces many quality wines including red and white table wines, fruit wines, and Canada's very own icewines. All of Lulu Island's quality wines are produced on site, using only the best grapes from the Okanagan and the best berries from the Fraser Valley.
