Comprehensive family medicine and a full range of primary care services have historically been provided by the family doctors with the assistance of our Registered Nurses. In addition, some of our physicians provide obstetrical care, caring for women during their pregnancies and delivering their babies. Others work in nursing homes, provide care in the rehab/chronic care wards of the hospital, and assist in surgery.
Our organizational approach has been one underlined by integrity and a determination to what is best for the patients we care for. We value the opportunity to afford our patients the expertise of allied health professionals working in collaboration with their family physician.
Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) is a progressive, two-site community hospital with leading diagnostic services and clinical programs in acute care medicine and surgery, addictions and mental health and maternal and child rehab/transitional care; all of which are focused on the needs of our rapidly growing communities. Partnering with other specialist providers, the over 450 physicians, 17 midwives, and 1,900 staff of the hospital make it the centre of community care for the almost 400,000 residents of Markham, Stouffville and Uxbridge.
