Galaxy Toppers Educational Coaching Services in Scarborough uses the UCMAS Mental Math program to promote whole brain development by stimulating both sides of the brain. This is achieved by using an Abacus as a teaching tool. By learning to perform mental calculations quickly and accurately, students increase their memory and mental capacity, while developing multitasking, time management, concentration and problem solving skills. Whether it's because the pace is too fast, or because a learning problem such as ADHD, has restricted the student's potential, the results are usually the same - resistance, frustration and failure. With 45 years of experience in education, I know first-hand that traditional schools may not always be able to recognize or address learning problems. At the same time though, I have seen what children with learning differences can accomplish when they are placed in a supportive learning environment suited to their needs.
