The MIAC is a newly formed association to assist manufacturers and importers with the difficult task of importing and showing compliance to the Motor Vehicle Safety Act and Regulations, and the applicable Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS). Under this federal legislation, all vehicles being imported into Canada must comply to all applicable CMVSS regulations. Some of the responsibilities imposed by the legislation onto the importer of the vehicles being imported into Canada includes the ability to: ensure compliance of imported vehicles to the applicable standards, match test records to actual vehicles being imported, track vehicles for recall purposes, and provide the required documentation during a Transport Canada audit. The MIAC can assist importers in meeting all of these responsibilities and provide other related services with such as compiling compliance packages, acting as the designated importer, assist in the required testing, etc.
