Authentic Tuscan cuisine takes up happy residence in this somewhat tucked-away authentic downtown restaurant, where most everything's scratch made and the servers can spin rich food stories about every menu item's provenance. Tutti Matti is unique for being one of the few Canadian restaurants overseen by a female owner and head chef. The results are unpretentious Italian-themed delights, from pappardelle con stracotto to wild boar stew and a solid antipasti offering. All the yummy pasta is made on the spot — and noticeably so. Online reviewers urge diners close the Tutti Matti experience with a lemon tart.
We came here in a rush with tickets to a show. The servers were understanding and did everything in their power to accommodate. They were wonderful! The entrees were delicious - nice solid, fresh ingredients and very nice flavour profiles. The stewed lamb with the tagliatelle was perfectly cooked. The tortellone with the ricotta, pecorino and the radicchio was just perfect...satisfying and memorable. As for the dessert, we both agree with another review on this board that this quite possibly could be the best tiramisu in the city. Overall, great service, great entrees, and an epic dessert. Most of all, the wait staff were helpful in helping us meet our showtime. Great place that we would visit again in a heartbeat! Read more
Figo Trattoria invites you to their dining room. They are conveniently reachable by public transit and bicycle and are positioned in a surrounding filled with restaurants, stores and parks.
Caffino is the very essence of Italy in Toronto. It was established just for the joy of getting together, eating, drinking and having a good time in a purely European atmosphere. Its mosaic décor and authentic cuisine separate it from other Italian restaurants. Favourites are served, such as pasta and a variety of pizzas as well as Grilled Atlantic Salmon and N. Y. Steak. It offers the best of both worlds, the old and the new. Catering is available for private functions. Reservations are suggested.
Definitely a must try if you are downtown, and if not it is well worth the trip! Absolutely the best Italian restaurant I have tried by far in terms of food, service, location and price range!! You need to experience it for yourself to see!! Read more
Come savor a delightful meal at Michael's On Simcoe. You can even enjoy the sunlight on their terrace. They are open at night all week. You can get there by public transit and bicycle. The surrounding area is notable for its merchants and parks.
I came to Michael's for the first time looking for an amazing steak and thats exactly what I got! The service is amazing, food is truly top notch and the wines are out of this world. The owner and management are one of a kind and are willing to go the extra mile to make the customer happy. Would give this establishment a 5 star out of 5 star because I could not find any flaw. Pasta is the superstar at this Old World Italian eatery, where high ceilings and brick walls enclose nothing short of a pending experience in exquisite dining. On-line reviewers swoon over the homemade pasta and pizza, and collectively scoff at the notion that one might find anything pedestrian to eat at this innovative King West spot. The frequently updated menu is date-stamped, to demonstrate its recency, but staples like nodini (little fists of bread brushed with olive oil, sea salt and rosemary) and parmigiana di melanzane (layers of preserved tomato, fried eggplant and cheese) are perennial favourites. Buca's wine list is respectable; the cocktail selection is inventive and the service is stellar.
The flavour of the pasta was amazing. The aged beef was exquisite. Service was second to none. Wine parings were excellent. Thank you for a great evening. I wish I had the recipe for the pasta. Read more
