I try and hit up Rodney's whenever I am in Van. Located on trendy Hamilton St. it's got some serious character. Sit at the bar for a great view of the oyster shucking and some lively chat with the bartenders. Staff is friendly with plenty of personality. They have an oyster happy hour 4-6pm (if I remember correctly) where it's half price oysters. Good selection of craft beer on tap too. Read more

Housed in a converted warehouse building at the corner Hamilton and Helmcken, the Blue Water Café is a longstanding anchor along Yaletown’s trendy restaurant row. The internationally acclaimed restaurant is known for its innovative East-meets-West seafood menu and raw bar, which combines the best of West Coast cooking with Japanese culinary traditions. The multi-tiered seafood towers – topped with oysters, prawns, scallop ceviche and other fresh-water delights on ice – are a must try.
The boutique opened in 2003, at a time when Vancouver was better known for conservative neutrals than bold, statement-making design. Under the vision and direction of co-owners Darci Ilich and Stephanie Vogler, The Cross changed the city's design landscape and quickly garnered international attention for its aesthetic, which is at once refined and relaxed, more playful than perfectly polished.
