Parishioners should not feel obligated to shake hands for the greeting during the Gathering Rite and the 'Peace' greeting during the Mass. Nor should anyone feel hurt if their neighbour does not extend their hand. It is important to show care and friendliness, but there are many other ways: a brief nod, a respectful bow, or a cheerful smile are all perfectly acceptable. Archdiocesan guidelines for H1N1 ('swine') flu precautions were promulgated in September 2010 for liturgy and for parish operations . 'Stage 1' precautions were put in place in 2009 but have since been suspended by the Archbishop's office. Lakewood Children's Center began in spring of 1982. Several working mothers within the community formed a steering committee and worked with the provinal government to create a credible non-profit, incorporated centre that was accessible and affordable to parents within the community. After negotiations with the St. James School Division, two rooms were rented in Lakewood School and the centre officially opened in September of 1982 with three staff and twenty-six children.By 1984, all forty-eight of the licensed spaces were filled and five staff members were employed. It was decided at that time, through a needs assessment, to introduce a full lunch program. Later this year, a third room was rented from the school division.

The pork for our Carnitas, the beef for Barbacoa and the chicken for our Adobo Chicken are all found nearby. Our meats are slow cooked, tender and juicy every time whether it be in a burrito, on a soft corn tortilla taco or on top of one of our fresh salads. For a change try our dry rubbed tofu or marinated fish tacos.
