Founded in 1999, Speaking of Lacan (SOL) is a Toronto based organization dedicated to the study of Lacanian psychoanalysis. This group is an independent and self-supporting forum for clinicians, scholars and students from a variety of disciplines who are interested in the elaboration and advancement of Lacanian theory and praxis.Speaking of Lacan offers a number of programs including: Reading groups where members can discuss and read particular texts and seminars of Lacan and Freud. Interdisciplinary colloquia on topics related to psychoanalytic thought, in collaboration with other organizations and scholars from other disciplines Psychoanalysis and the Arts: In Conversation, a series of dialogues between an artist and an analyst. This series provides an opportunity to explore and exchange the commonalities and differences between psychoanalysis and the arts. Individual and group supervisionSpeaking of Lacan welcomes new participants and is addressed not only to those with a background in Lacanian psychoanalysis but also to those from other disciplines who have an interest in psychoanalysis, independent of level of study and orientation

Open Studio is a charitable, non-profit, artist run centre dedicated to the production, preservation and promotion of contemporary original fine art prints.

In 1979, a group of young artists got together with the intent of exhibiting work which was not being shown by commercial galleries and institutions. YYZ Artists' Outlet distinguished itself through strong, innovative programming that sought to combine theory and practice and to encourage dialogue between a variety of communities and audiences. YYZ continues to nurture and support contemporary art practices in Toronto and to make a recognized contribution to the Canadian cultural scene.YYZ supports three areas of programming - visual art, artists' film and video and writing and publishing on Canadian art and culture. YYZ is committed to paying artists' fees and providing equipment and support, particularly for our time-based arts programming. In 1992 YYZ produced YYZTV, a program of contemporary film and video for Rogers Cable. YYZ Books was founded in 1988; it is the only publishing house dedicated to Canadian artists and writers.

Gilda's Club is named for comedian Gilda Radner of Saturday Night Live fame, who died of ovarian cancer in 1989. While in treatment in the mid-'80s, Gilda visited a cancer support community in Los Angeles where she found others going through similar experiences to hers. She drew strength and comfort from the support the group provided, and it became her dream that similar communities be available everywhere, so no one had to face cancer alone. The first Gilda's Club opened in New York in 1995 and Gilda's Club Greater Toronto opened its signature red doors in 2001, in the city where Gilda got her start in show business.

Our group includes book lovers, storytellers, teachers, professors, collectors, students...people who care about early children's books, and want to help build, conserve and promote use of one of the foremost English-language children's book collections. we have supported the Osborne Collection of Early Children's Books by raising funds for special projects, includingacquisitions, beyond Toronto Public Library's regular budget, cataloguing and conservation projects, outreach through sponsored events
