In order to graduate with our Master's degree, we therapists in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program were expected to earn a minimum 500 hours with real clients during supervised training. I have benefitted and continue to benefit from excellent supervision. This means that the client profits from both my experience and from that of a more seasoned professional. Think of it as two helpers for the price of one. Throughout the entirety of my training and vocational experience, I also had to face my own issues. This is common to all good therapists in order to becoming better equipped to distinguish our own baggage from that of others.
