I have been a registered psychologist since 1980 and have worked in private practice since 1994, specializing in individual counseling with adults. I am skilled in treating a wide range of psychological issues including trauma (PTSD, early childhood abuse, post-accident), depression, anxiety, stress management, and life transitions.
Early in my career, I realized that there was more to therapy than "just talk" and have completed training in many holistic therapies to deepen my work.
Sandy Evans and associates have over 30+ years of experience in working with adolescents, couples, families, immigrant women, students and communities. Specializing in PTSD, abuse, depression, anger, anxiety, men's issues, self esteem, stress and supporting families with autistic spectrum disorders.
I have learned a great deal in my 20 years as a Psychologist but one thing remains constant – I am honored to journey with people as they transform towards wellness, to offer compassionate presence and therapeutic knowing during times of struggle. I believe that people are both amazing and messy at the same time. My role is to meet people where they are so that we can find a way to live deeply in the “amazing” while easing the “messy.”
I work with teens, adults, and couples and I have special interests in relationships, attachment, anxiety, trauma, sexuality, grief, and supporting families with ill or special needs children. I draw on several different approaches to therapy depending on what clients need. My work is particularly influenced by advanced training in Hakomi, a therapy approach that integrates cognitive, emotional, and physiological realms as sources of knowing.
