At The Nanaimo Pain Clinic, we have set out to create a safe, confidential, and encouraging space to address and treat opiate dependence. The rate of addiction in British Columbia has reached critical levels, creating chaos in our communities, and resulting in death across the province. In response to this epidemic, The Nanaimo Pain Clinic opened its doors in 2016 to ensure that those caught in the grips of drug dependence do not have to suffer alone. Understanding that addiction has many faces and takes many forms, The Nanaimo Pain Clinic uses an evidence based treatment model to provide medication-assisted therapy in tandem with recovery support counselling, prioritizing promptness, compassion, and respect to the core of the practice.
I am impressed with all of the staff at the clinic and in particular my medical doctor. He is very personable, knowledgeable and engaging. This is something that I don t take for granted! Without reservation, I would recommend the clinics services to anyone in need.Read more
The Thirsty Camel Cafe serves delicious, fresh and healthy food. It's a favourite Nanaimo restaurant, voted among the top three places to eat lunch in Nanaimo in 2009. The main menu is middle Eastern. There are plenty of Vegetarian and Vegan option, as well as dishes containing free-range, veggie-fed, non-medicated chicken from Nanaimo's best butcher. Piper's Meats. Our falafel pitas have gained a reputation far beyond Nanaimo. According to Victoria's Eat Magazine, "There is ho hum falafel and then there is Ilan Goldenblatt's falafel at the Thirsty Camel. [ Goldnblatt] is fresh obsessed". [ Su Grimmer, Eat Magazine, July/August edition, 2008.]
I love middle Eastern food but it's hard to find a restaurant that does it good. And my partner's a vegan and there's so much here to eat.
The persian chicken plate is made from free-range chicken and smothered in a great selection of spices - i think they said 18 different ones!
This is my favorite place for baklava too. The syrup they us is perfect.Read more
