Hunt's Concrete Supplies Ltd. was originally formed in 1974 by Clayton Hunt (A.C. Hunt) who was heavily involved in the construction of steel buildings in the Central Newfoundland area. Clayton saw the need for a better supply of concrete for his building projects, and through much hard work and toiling his vision was completed with the creation of a family owned business. The last 35+ years have seen many changes but today operating as Hunt's Concrete Ltd., in its third generation, this basic truth still remains: no matter what the job, it's always worth doing well. From humble beginnings, to a household name, Harvey's has been serving the people of the greater St. John's area for almost 150 years. Our focus has always been clear - to put the needs of our customers first and support those in the community who support us.In 1865, Alexander John Harvey moved to St. John's to open an import/export business similar to an operation his father was running in Nova Scotia. The company was originally known as A. J. Harvey and Company and finally, under the Companies Act of 1914, became incorporated as A. Harvey and Company Limited. Harvey's also established the Newfoundland Coastal Steamship Company in 1889 for transporting passengers and freight to coastal communities.
