We Are OneOpen Door Yoga was started in Jan. 1999 as a drop-in yoga class. In Sept. of 1999, the school changed to offering a variety of passes to accommodate the growing student population. Classes were hatha style classes, linking asanas in a flow-like sequence with emphasis on breathing and alignment.Open Door Yoga remains a predominantly hatha yoga studio. Power, restorative, prenatal, parent & baby, kids, yin & intermediate-advanced power yoga are also part of the schedule as well as many yoga and other workshops.Currently, Open Door Yoga has expanded to 4 locations:Main Street @ 15th, Main Street @ 14th, Commercial Drive and Kerrisdale (@ 6158 East Boulevard)Style of Yoga taught...We teach a hatha style yoga, linking asanas with breath and mindful awareness. With particular attention to safety, we offer all-levels class by offering modifications and variations throughout the class. Our teachers were influenced by Kripalu and Sivananda although elements of various teachers and teachings have been incorporated into our classes.
