DONATE A RIDE THE RED DEER ACTION GROUP SOCIETYThe Red Deer Action Group Society has been serving the citizens of Red Deer with their special transportation needs since 1977.When Red Deer City Transit took over the operation of the Action Bus Program in 2008, our Society refocused and initiated the Subsidy Ride Program The Program is designed to support low income individuals and families in Red Deer, by offering a transportation subsidy to attend social and educational events as well as trips for medical purposes. Travel may be within communities, between communities, and to major cities, provided they are in the province of Alberta. Central Alberta's Safe Harbour Society for Health and Housing was formed on April 11, 2007. This uniqueagency is the result of the amalgamation of three non for profit agencies serving the community ofCentral Alberta, the Safe Harbour Society (detox and overnight shelter for individuals who are highor intoxicated), the Red Deer Residential Society (transitional housing units) and the Central AlbertaHousing Society (homeless shelter and transitional housing).
The Alberta Summer Music Workshop has been providing a summer music experience for Alberta students since 1957. The summer music program, begun by then Music Consultant David J. Peterkin (hence the Peterkin Symphonic Band) was originally a program of the Department of Culture, Youth and Recreation and was a direct program of the Alberta Government until 1983.
