Our members are dedicated to ''Bringing Out the Best in Kids'' and to do our part by supporting community activities and service projects which provide a positive role model to children and youth throughout the Welland and Pelham area. When a need arises in our community the Welland Optimist Club is ready to offer help.Our club members are Optimists and we strive to live up to the name, and maintain an upbeat attitude, which we try to pass along to the children we serve. The words of The Optimist Creed are well known to our Optimists and it gives each member a focus for personal improvement as we work to better the world around us.Recent Donations: City of Welland Recreation's Summer Camp, Niagara Sexual Assault Center, 9th Welland Scout Troop, Huntington's Society of Niagara Marathon, Niagara Youth Symphony Summer Camp.
An Ecumenical Network to Serve Port CommunitiesNAMMA is an ecumenical, Christian association of individuals and organizations involved in maritime ministry throughout North America, including the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Founded in 1932 as the National Group of Seamen's Agencies, it was renamed NAMMA in 1991. Its mission is to provide a framework to support and assist port chaplains and others in their ministry to the spiritual, moral, human rights, and physical concerns of mariners and all others in the maritime community.NAMMA helps equip port chaplains with the resources needed to carry on their ministry. It acts as a consultant and coordinator for services and training, as well as providing standards for these services.NAMMA includes many ministries from a wide variety of denominations, as well as the maritime ministries of North America. NAMMAs members include 41 major maritime ministry agencies and approximately 150 member chaplains.Our Programs
