The Garth Homer Society (GHS) is a non-profit society that provides daytime services for more than 130 adults with developmental disabilities. Working with families and friends, GHS creates a plan of activities that meets the individual needs of the client. The dozens of activities available can include supported employment, volunteering in the community, taking a yoga class or cooking and baking in the seniors' program at the Garth Homer Centre.GHS puts a strong emphasis on creating opportunities for the clients to use their skills and abilities in the community. That may mean working at Starbucks, cleaning stalls at Mary's Farm & Sanctuary, recycling bottles to raise money for a village in Africa, or volunteering at a radio station. Clients are also engaged in a number of activities that benefit the community such as collecting donations for Christmas Hampers for less fortunate families.
