The origins of VanMar Constructors Inc. can be traced back to 1973 when brothers Eric and Bernie launched their general contracting firm Van Maren Construction. Art Van Maren joined the firm in 1985. From modest beginnings in framing and concrete construction, the Van Maren brothers have built everything from town homes to hotels, non-profit social and co-operative housing, care facilities, seniors housing, luxury high-rise condominiums, office/retail to industrial buildings. In the process the Van Maren's have earned a wealth of experience that has enabled them to better serve their clients and create a successful business. Van Maren has developed a first class reputation with owners, lenders, investors and design teams. With over 15,000 multi-family units to its credit, from wood frame town home and apartment projects to concrete high-rises and a host of industrial, retail, health care, office and institutional projects, Van Maren has gained a broad knowledge of the design, construction and development process. In 2002 Eric and Bernie Van Maren decided to end their involvement in the construction business and concentrate their energies on their financing and development business. Art Van Maren stayed in the construction business and re-launched the company as VanMar Constructors Inc. Since 2002 VanMar has completed a host of projects including 8 health care campuses which include assisted living, independent living, complex care, dementia units, adult day care, child day care and walk in clinics. Also completed are 7 apartments and townhouse projects, 4 student housing projects, a waste transfer station, a convention lodge and 2 commercial projects. The busy construction marketplace has permitted VanMar to enjoy steady growth over the past 8 years.
