The First Ladies Health Initiative, sponsored by Walgreens, was created to inspire the First Ladies of the church to leverage their considerable influence to empower their congregations and community to make smart decisions regarding their health.
CLAS provides quality community living opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. CLAS promotes and facilitates their exercise of individual rights, fulfillment of responsibilities, and participation within their communities. CLAS was formed in 1976 as a response to the challenges of de-institutionalization, a movement championed by parents and organizations dedicated to improving the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. CLAS began as a volunteer, charitable organization, working with the Nova Scotia Government to provide needed facilities in Kings County. It was the first association of its kind in the province. CLAS continues to work towards this goal.
The organization provides supports to individuals with disabilities and/or barriers to access and be included in their community through employment support services and doortodoor accessible transportation.The Board of Directors meets approximately 610 times each year and members will be expected to participate in Board committees as well. Located in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, Canada. Our hall is 72 feet by 42 feet and sits on a 3-acre lot and has two stories. The main floor has a large auditorium, stage, bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. The original hall was over 100 years old and had to be replaced. The current hall had its grand opening on May 7th, 1986 Our hall is available for rent for birthday parties, community socials, teas and coffee parties, card or crib games, group functions, dinners, wedding receptions and just about anything that would require a hall. Hall is rated for 150 people. We have a coat room and a storage closet that can be locked. There is a stage for performances and of course we are fully wheelchair accessible. Down below on the bottom floor we have meeting rooms and a place to play darts, or maybe cards do crafts etc. Why not have your next meeting at the White Rock Hall. Youth groups are always welcome.
