DAKOTA LENSPRO came into being in 2009 as a result of the joining of two independent ophthalmic labs: Dakota Optical and Lenspro Ltd.Dakota Optical was founded in 1982 by Gil Harper. One of his early employees was Perry Shergold. Perry continues on as our manager of lab operations at DAKOTA LENSPRO.Lenspro Ltd. Was founded in 1992 by Dr. Dale Mulhall, a local optometrist.Both labs were full service labs, supplying premium ophthalmic lenses from local suppliers, such as Rodenstock and Nikon.Our staff has been in the industry for years and brings a unique history of experience and excellence. Our current owners Dr. Gerard Murray and Dr. Dale Mulhall are committed to serving and enabling the independent practitioner.The optical industry is evolving to new freeform/digital manufacturing of progressive lenses. Our commitment to remaining independent prompted the joining of the two labs. This synergy allows us to manufacture our own state of the art digital lens designs. In 1991/92 it amalgamated with the Manitoba Electrical Association (MEA) to form the Manitoba Electrical league Inc. In June 2014 the name was changed to Electrical Association of Manitoba with a tag line ''Strength in Connection''. The organizatiobn is rebranding itself and wants to be seen an association that offers stability, strength and professionalism.The Association EAM is a non-profit organization made up of electrical contractors, wholesalers, distributors, manufacturers, agents and consultants. So, in the fall of 1997 we set up shop in the city of Winnipeg being that over 90% of our customer base was in the city. After having to relocate over the years due to rental agreements, in 2008 we were able to purchase our current building.
