Play is a child's work. It provides an opportunity for children to develop their own interests, to be spontaneous and creative, to explore their world at their own level of development. Our quality preschool setting is a warm, happy and stimulating environment for children. Our programs offer educational activities which nurture social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth. Our experienced teachers and aides offer planned thematic programs combining structured and unstructured activities.

Most people would like to change something about their lives. The ability to change is within each of us, however, we do not always make the changes we want, or even know where, or how to begin. Both pros and cons to making the desired change likely exist, and these competing ideas can often serve to keep us "stuck. To make matters worse, making a change typically means giving something up, and when we give something up, we replace it with something new, usually the unknown. Confronting the unknown often produces feelings of anxiety and uncertainty. Many people resist change, despite the desire to change, because they feel very uncomfortable when they cannot predict their own feelings, responses, or what might happen in the future because of this change. Fear of the unknown can then become another obstacle to change. The process is difficult, and change is never easy, or we would be doing it already!

My company was incorporated in 2003 under the business name: Carter Urban Design Ltd. -- James Carter Design is the operating name I have now chosen to use. I completed my Design and Drafting program in Nova Scotia in 1997. After school I went to work for a commercial construction company, where I spent several years learning the ins and outs of construction as a skilled labourer & contract administrator. From there, I moved to Calgary and spent the next 7+ years in various roles, such as: Draftsperson/Project Estimator, Construction Manager, and Lead Hand Installer. I made the switch back into the office as a designer in 2004. Here I spent 4+ years with a reputable architectural design firm where my knowledge of the design world really flourished. From there, I felt confident branching out on my own; which brings us to today.

We care for children from young infants to school age. As a non-profit charitable agency, our mandate is to provide help over profiting. We support family life, healthy child development, and early learning, offering a broad program of care and rich, play-based learning opportunities to help working parents with the challenges of raising healthy children."
