The South African High Commission is located at 15 Sussex Drive in the New Edinburgh neighbourhood of Ottawa. Directly across the street from the embassy is 24 Sussex Drive the official residence of the Prime Minister of Canada. East of the high commission is 7 Rideau Gate, Canada's official guest house. Rideau Hall is also nearby.
A small neighbourhood bar run by 2 British ex-pats that features fresh Kensington fare. Much of the food, including spicy vegetable soup, pate de campagne and a good selection of sandwiches, are bought fresh from the market stands. There is also a selection of tasty microbrews from Ontario and Québec, a full bar and parties every night.
