It is with great pride and pleasure that we announce the induction of Mr. K. Hakim to knight of The Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta. Thereafter having the title Sir Karim Hakimi.The celebration of Sir Karim Hakimi's knighthood took place in the evening of June 24th, 2005 at Queen's Park Toronto, Ontario's Parliament Hall. This great honour has been bestowed upon Sir Karim Hakimi for his many generous contributions such as donating hundreds of thousands of pairs of eyeglasses to people in less fortunate countries. And most recently, participating in Ride for Sight in support of The Foundation Fighting Blindness.When a man as busy as Sir Hakimi makes time to help in humanitarian efforts, it is worthy of our admiration and congratulations to Sir Hakimi for doing a wonderful job.Hakim Optical began more than 40 years ago with Mr. Hakim grinding lenses for the Canadian wholesale market. His craft was learned, as a youth, in his native Iran and honed, in subsequent years, grinding lenses in Germany and then camera lenses in Switzerland.Attracted by the excitement of retail opportunities, Mr. Hakim began to pass the great deals he gave to wholesalers on to the public.Today Hakim Optical serves the public with 157 outlets (including 137 one hour factory outlets) in Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Manitoba.
The launching of this website in September 2002 coincided with the relocation of my practice to 125 Delhi Street, Guelph ON. The concept of the website and its format emerged this summer on a shinkansen (the legendary ' bullet train ') journey from Yokohama to Hiroshima, Japan and it materialized recently on the World Wide Web. The site introduces the practice to my colleagues and patients. It provides easily accessible resources in the form of patient education, medical journal reviews und links to important medical sites. An additional section provides the latest updates on important clinical trial results, and presents the 'ECG of the Month' as chosen from my clinical files. The website is still undergoing construction and will be continuously updated to bring you the latest in Cardiology. Your comments and feedback are greatly appreciated. In this Electronic Age of the 21st Century, the Latin adage verba volant, scripta manent holds true. The Barry Cullen Chevrolet Cadillac story starts back in the late 1950s. Barry Cullen worked part-time for a Toronto car dealer while he was playing in the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs. After a career in the NHL along side his brothers Brian Cullen and Raymond Cullen, Barry retired in 1960 and worked full-time in the automobile business. In 1969 Barry purchased the Chevrolet Cadillac dealership in Guelph and renamed it Barry Cullen Chevrolet Oldsmobile Cadillac. The original location was on Wellington St, but in 1979 the dealership moved to it's current location. Barry Cullen is a past president of the Ontario Automobile Dealers Association, a retired member of the Guelph Rotary Club and a proud supporter of: Guelph General/St. Joseph Hospital Building Fund, Guelph River Run Centre, Guelph Minor Hockey, Guelph Minor Soccer, Guelph Minor Baseball. Barry currently operates the dealership with two of his sons and one daughter.
