A small laser fiber is inserted, usually through a needle stick in the skin, into the damaged vein. Pulses of laser light are delivered inside the vein, which causes the vein to collapse and seal shut. The procedure is done inoffice under local anesthesia. Following the procedure a bandage or compression hose is placed on the treated leg. If you are between 12 and 17 looking for a safe place to go you may access the shelter in one of two ways:Self-referral: intake occurs daily from 6-9pm. You are not required to call first however if you are able to we appreciate it!Agency referral: referred intakes are accepted 24 hours/day. The agency may include CFSA, RCMP, John Howard Society, Alberta Health Services or any other social agency you are working with.
