The Wikwemikong Board of Education's vision statement is ''to promote lifelong learning and academic success guided by Anishinabe world views.'' A vision statement is vital to any organization because it provides a sense of commonality. Everyone in the school board is united under this one goal, and this clarity provides the focus and energy for learning. A shared vision gives us the common language that binds us together.Historically, Wikwemikong's formal education system dates back to the 1780's, which we believe is the oldest education system in northern Ontario. The Wikwemikong Board of Education now oversees many programs in addition to the K-12 Program. The School Year Calendar for programming runs from September to June in any given year. The education system addresses the academic needs of the community members. Each of the four schools is equipped with up-to-date computer and science labs with libraries. The school board has partnered with McMaster University's Medical School Program to run the 'Come Explore Medicine Program'
